Job Title: Handyman/Caretaker
Location: Penzance
Employment Type: Long-term temporary or Temp-to-Perm (T2P)
Hours: Part-time (22 hours) to Full-time (up to 37.5 hours)
Salary: £12.18 - £14.66 per hour
Shifts Available:
Day Shifts: 8 AM – 4 PM
Evening Shifts: 2 PM – 10 PM
Must be available to work Saturdays.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and physically fit handyman/caretaker for a mixed role involving day and evening shifts. The role will include a variety of duties such as minor repairs, maintenance tasks, and assisting with rentals. Flexibility is key as the schedule may include both day and night shifts, and some tasks will need to be completed after hours.
Key Responsibilities:
Day Shifts:
Moving boxes and items as needed
Carrying out minor repairs (e.g., fixing hinges, mending furniture)
Cleaning up urgent spills
Coordinating with contractors on-site
Fire alarm testing
Assisting with groundskeeping/gardening tasks (may increase after Easter)
Evening Shifts:
Performing tasks that cannot be completed during the day (e.g., replacing lights, fixing doors)
Setting up and breaking down rooms for evening rental events
Locking up the site after rentals
Requirements:
Must be reliable and local to the area (preferably not Truro)
Physically fit – the role involves extensive walking and physical tasks on a large site
Comfortable working evenings alone and able to respond to fire alarms out of hours (on-call responsibilities may apply)
Experience in a trade is advantageous but not essential
Must pass an enhanced DBS check (we can facilitate this)
