​We are currently seeking a highly organized and efficient Medical Secretary on a temporary 1-month contract.

The Medical Secretary will provide critical administrative support to medical staff, ensuring smooth and efficient operations within the practice. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

You must hold a current portable DBS, NHS Smart card and ideally have experience using ERIS

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administrative Support: Provide comprehensive administrative support to doctors, nurses, and other medical staff.

  • Scheduling: Manage appointments, coordinate schedules, and ensure timely communication with patients and medical personnel.

  • Document Preparation: Prepare and manage medical documents, correspondence, and reports.

  • Patient Interaction: Assist with patient inquiries, handle phone calls, and provide necessary information to patients.

  • Record Management: Maintain and update patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

  • Billing and Coding: Assist with medical billing, coding, and insurance claims processing.

  • Data Entry: Accurately input and manage data in the practice's medical software system.

  • Coordination: Coordinate with other departments to facilitate patient care and ensure efficient workflow.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational policies.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a medical secretary or in a similar administrative role within a healthcare setting.

  • Proficiency in medical terminology and healthcare administrative processes.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and medical software systems.

  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
